Overview

This circuit covers a distance of 350 km starting from Guwahati/Tezpur in Assam to the 17th century Tawang Monastery situated at an altitude of 10,000ft.

Along the way you will see stunning mountains, wild rivers, rich culture, and impressive architecture.

In 7 days you can see Tawang and stop at most major sightseeing spots on the way. You won't have much time to look around in Tawang.

In 10 days you can see Tawang and have at least 1-2 days to look around while also stopping at all major sightseeing spots on the way. You won't have time to stop for long at other places besides Tawang.

In 14 days you can see Tawang and all major sightseeing spots. You will have time to look around everywhere without rushing and can visit beautiful lesser-known and less-crowded places.

The Circuit

Guwahati

The gateway to the northeast of India and the location of the main airport of the region. While not officially included in the circuit, you will most likely enter the northeast via Guwahati and spend your first night here before continuing.

4 hour drive to Tezpur

Tezpur

A convenient one-night stopover on the way to Arunachal to break up the long drive. If a long drive is no problem then you can skip Tezpur and go straight to Bomdila via Bhalukpong.

1 hour drive to Bhalukpong

Bhalukpong

The entrance to Arunachal Pradesh, situated along the Kameng river. It is a great place to take a break, eat lunch, and enjoy the view at the river. You may have to stop at the police gate to check your entrance permit.

3 hour drive to Bomdila

Bomdila

Located at an altitude of 2,217 metres (7,273 feet), Bomdila is a picturesque mountain town with stunning vistas of the surrounding mountain landscape. Your first one-night stopover in the Himalayan mountains.
